Why it matters.

It explains why a scene with bright windows and dark interiors is difficult to record.

A closer look.

Scene, sensor and display dynamic range are different things. If a scene exceeds what one capture can retain, some shadow or highlight detail may be lost.

Picture this

Frame a room with a bright window. Decide which area needs detail before changing the exposure.

Keep in mind.

HDR capture, HDR editing and HDR displays refer to different stages. A file format alone does not guarantee a particular range.
